AirTalk Wireless is one of the most generous and popular Lifeline and Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) providers in the country. Through the support of government funds, eligible low-income customers can receive free monthly phone and wireless services with free talk, text, and high-speed data on a reliable nationwide network. Qualifying clients can also receive a free smartphone of their own choosing and purchase a tablet with a huge ACP discount.
However, even the best carriers can sometimes have issues with their services or devices. If you are wondering ‘Why is my AirTalk Wireless not working?’, you’ve come to the right spot, as we will help you overcome any AirTalk Wireless issues you may have.
Issue Number One: My AirTalk Wireless Services Are Not Working – What to Do?
If you have an active AirTalk account (your AirTalk government assistance program application has been approved), an AirTalk SIM card (which you have received from AirTalk), and an AirTalk free phone or tablet (either purchased directly from AirTalk or you brought your own compatible device) and your AirTalk monthly service doesn’t work (or at least not properly), you can try the following:
- If you have brought your own device, make sure that it is compatible with AirTalk’s services. Check your phone’s compatibility at airtalkwireless.com/byop.
- If you haven’t done so already, activate the device. To do so, charge it fully, turn it off, locate its SIM card slot, pop out the SIM card in the right size to fit your phone’s slot from the AirTalk SIM card kit, and carefully insert the SIM card into the device’s SIM card slot. Make sure the SIM card is not dirty or dusty and that the metal contact chip is facing the right way. The SIM card should fit perfectly. Then, turn the device on and activate the SIM card. To do so, you must visit airtalkwireless.com/active-my-sim-card, enter your phone number and SIM card number, and press ‘Submit’. You should receive a text message welcoming you to AirTalk’s network. Check whether or not you can use the services by trying to place a call or using the data.
- If your AirTalk services are still not working, you may be located in an area where AirTalk has poor coverage. If so, simply move to an area with a stronger signal. Find an area with a strong signal at airtalkwireless.com/check-coverage. In case the signal is interfered with by the weather, terrain, physical obstruction, network congestion, or a similar factor, you may try to resolve them (move away from a tall building that may be blocking the network) or you will simply have to wait for the issue to pass.
- You may also wish to check other basic things. Make sure to turn off the phone’s airplane mode, turn on your network connection, and turn on your phone’s mobile data. You can restart your network by restarting the device.
- Make sure you haven’t reached your monthly data limit. If so, you can top it up.
- Finally, change your APN settings. APN is an abbreviation that stands for Access Point Name settings. These are the configuration settings that enable your mobile device to connect to a carrier’s network, which enables you to use your monthly services. In case your APN settings are not correct, you may only receive limited data speeds. See how to reset your AirTalk Wireless APN settings in the section below.
- Finally, if nothing else works, make sure to contact AirTalk’s customer support service.
