To avoid any unnecessary confusion, we must address this right away: MetroPCS is now officially called Metro by T-Mobile. However, since most people still refer to it as MetroPCS, we decided to use their all name as well.
In this article, we will fully focus on MetroPCS LG phones. You will learn all the ins and outs regarding the MetroPCS LG phones, including a detailed buyer’s guide. However, probably the most interesting section will be the one, where we will take a closer look at 13 LG phones, which can be either purchased at MetroPCS directly or elsewhere (as unlocked devices) and brought to the MetroPCS network via their ‘Bring Your Own Phone’ (BYOP) option.
Are you ready to dig deeper? Let’s do this.
How Good are MetroPCS LG Phones?
We often get the following question: ‘Do LG phones last long?’ And the answer is, not a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. LG is a reputable mobile phone and other electronics producing company. Their phones come in a wide range and their best models fall into the category of the best mobile phones on the market. The durability of their phones matches those of iPhone, Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, and other leading companies. Of course, the actual period that an LG phone will last will depend on your use and care greatly, and also on luck (if your model is flawless, it will last longer than the one with some minimalistic defects that cannot be detected during the testing and can result and malfunction after two or more years of use).
As far as the quality goes, LG’s flagship smartphone models match those of iPhone and Samsung. In some aspects, they may even be better, while there are performances, in which they fall slightly behind. If you are an LG fan, you sure should take a closer look at the MetroPCS LG phones or extended your options by purchasing an LG phone elsewhere and bring to MetroPCS’s network via their BYOP option.

MetroPCS LG Phone Buying Guide
Carrier Support
Before purchasing MetroPCS LG phones either directly from MetroPCS or elsewhere to bring them over to the MetroPCS via the BYOP option make sure to check that you are satisfied with the support offered by MetroPCS.
This should include signal coverage, troubleshooting, and assistance in case of any issues, kind and helpful customer supports, and more.
Choose an Operating System
All LG phones operate on the Android platform. Which version of Android you will get depends on the year of your phone. Most currently available new phones are operating on Android 9 or 10.
Choose Your Screen Size
This is a very important aspect and the one you should determine well based on your needs. Do you want to be able to navigate your phone with a single hand? Do you want it to fit most pockets with ease? Do you want to watch TV shows and movies on a larger display?
Know how big of a screen would you like to have. Though, keep in mind that the highest-performing phones these days mostly come with massive displays.
In general, smartphones fall into 4 categories according to their size:
- Compact: < 4.7”
- Standard: 4.7” – 5.3”
- Large: 5.4” – 5.7”
- Massive: > 5.7”
Screen Quality/Display Technology
Screen quality is another important aspect. Most LG smartphones these days have HD or even HD+ displays, however, you may want UHD or QHD, as such make sure your phone has a display that suits your needs and expectations.
There are four subcategories that determine the quality of a display:
- Resolution – HD, or High Definition, refers to a display of 720p resolution, or 1280 vertical pixels x 720 horizontal pixels, Full HD refers to 1920 vertical pixels x 1080 horizontal pixels, or “1080p”, Quad HD is 2560 x 1440, AKA 1440p, and 4K. Phones keep on getting better, and resolutions keep on getting higher.
- Pixel Density – aside from the resolution pixel density plays an important role in having a sharp display. The bigger a screen is, the higher the resolution required to keep it on par with smaller screens. Pixel density is measure in Pixels Per Inch or PPI. If you want a larger screen that’s just as sharp, you’ll need to go for a phone with a higher resolution to get the same PPI.
- Color Accuracy – If you edit photos and videos on your smartphone, color calibration will be important – it really helps to know that the people you share your great photo with will be seeing the same picture you are. Make sure you are offered an “sRGB” color mode so you can choose between vibrant, saturated colors or a calibrated, accurate display.
- Display technology – The two major competing display technologies in smartphones today are IPS LCD and AMOLED. LCDs are the kind you’ll find in most laptops, monitors, and televisions. They have a layer of liquid crystal sandwiched between thin sheets of glass, with a backlight behind them to provide luminance. AMOLED displays, meanwhile, light up each individual pixel rather than having a backlight. This means AMOLED displays can save power by turning pixels off to display black images, giving them fantastic contrast. There are pros and cons to each technology. LG phones come with IPS LCD screens.
Weight
It is highly logical that the larger the phone the heavier it will be. As such, make sure you are not bothered by the extra weight if you decide to go with the larger models. However, most phones are relatively lightweight.
Design and build quality
Each phone model has its special design features. If you care how your phone looks, make sure you like the design of your phone. Moreover, you can expect much higher build quality in super-premium phones, while slightly lower build quality is to be expected with budget-friendly phones.
Camera
If you know very little about photography and are only snapping photos for memory keeping and plan only to view them on your phone, then most smartphones on the market will satisfy your needs. However, if you are an enthusiast photographer or even a professional one who wants to be able to use his/her phone on a certain specific occasion, you will need to consider the best smartphones on the market. LG premium model offers solid camera sets, however, are still slightly behind those found in top-notch iPhones, Samsungs, and Huaweis.
Performance
If you plan on using your phone for advanced multitasking or gaming, you will need to ensure your smartphone is capable of running smoothly while performing heavy-duty tasks. As such, make sure it packs a powerful and fast processor and enough RAM. These days most smartphones have a quad-core processor with at least 1.8GHz and 4GB of RAM. Though, there are many models that pack 8GB of RAM or even more.
Moreover, if you plan on taking a lot of videos and photos and store a lot of music, make sure to get enough internal storage or at least have an option of expandable external storage. Either in internal or external storage should be at least 128GB for those who plan to take a lot of videos and photos. Otherwise, you will need to constantly download the files to your computer.
Battery and Charging
In the past, when phones were mostly used for short essential calls and a couple of short texts, their batteries were able to last for a week or so. Now that we use phones a lot more frequently, the goal is to have a smartphone that can carry you through the day (a full-day battery), then you can easily charge it during the night.
Moreover, if you run out of battery during the day, the speed of charging plays an extremely important role. As such, it is helpful if a phone offers fast charging. Moreover, it can also be extra handy if wireless charging is an option.
Security Features
The majority of the latest phones come with at least one of the many advanced security features. These normally include Facial Recognition, Fingerprint Security, Iris Scanning. If you have any special preferences in that area, make sure your MetroPCS LG phone selection includes that feature.
Extra features
There are many extra features that a smartphone may or may not include. Many of these may be added with apps, however, some require specific sensors to be included in the phone. Make sure that a phone packs all that is needed to meet your ultimate needs.
