Does X Mobile Offer Tablets Through the Government?
X Mobile doesn’t offer tablets through the government, at least not directly. Let’s explain.
The government only offers tablets through one particular FCC-managed assistance program, called the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). This is a new assistance program that was launched during the pandemic in hopes to mitigate its effects. It offers a discount on monthly internet services of up to $30 for eligible non-Tribal households and up to $75 for eligible Tribal households. In addition, it offers a one-time discount of up to $100 for eligible customers to purchase an internet-connected device, such as a tablet, a laptop, or a desktop computer. The customer must, however, pay a mandatory co-pay of more than $10 and less than $50 to receive the device.
Tablet manufacturers do not participate in this government assistance program. Instead, wireless companies that offer both monthly service plans and mobile devices participate in the program and receive government funds that enable them to offer different benefits to eligible customers.
While X Mobile is not a wireless company and does not participate in the ACP program, there are many other ACP companies that operate in all U.S. states and territories and offer highly discounted ACP tablets from some of the top brands, including Samsung, Alcatel, Apple, and X Mobile.
Which ACP Companies Offer X Mobile Government Tablets
Now, this is the tricky part. See, most wireless companies that participate in the Affordable Connectivity Program and offer government tablets do not reveal the exact tablet brand and model that a customer may receive in advance, as it depends on several factors, such as the state where the customer applies, the plan he or she qualifies for (for example, ACP Only or ACP & Lifeline combo), and the availability of the devices. As such, when a person applies, he or she has no way of knowing in advance which tablet they will receive. Instead, the company tends to make the decision last minute, right before they ship the device to the customer’s address.
Nevertheless, you can contact your selected provider’s customer support service to ask if they can offer you an X Mobile government tablet.

How to Get an X Mobile Government Tablet
Unfortunately, there is no way to know whether or not you can really get an X Mobile government tablet through the ACP program. However, the good news is that even if you don’t get a tablet from this manufacturer, you will likely get a tablet from another top brand, such as Alcatel, Samsung, or even Apple.
Still, not everyone can get any type of government tablet. Rather, these devices are only available for qualifying customers who take the following steps:
Step 1: Ensure That You Are Eligible to Participate in the ACP Program
You can only participate in the ACP program and possibly receive an X Mobile government tablet if you meet the government-determined ACP eligibility criteria. First of all, you must be at least 18 years old or an emancipated minor, the only applicant in your household (because the ACP benefit is limited to one per eligible household, however, exceptions apply), and a resident of one of the states where your selected provider operates.
Secondly, you must meet the FCC’s income-based eligibility or the program participation-based eligibility.
- You can qualify based on your income if your annual household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
- Alternatively, you can qualify based on your participation in another qualifying government assistance program, such as Lifeline, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, WIC, FPHA, Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, or certain Tribal programs, etc. You can also qualify if your household received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year.
If you meet one of these two criteria and the basic demographic criteria mentioned above, you are eligible to apply.
Step 2: Check Whether or Not You Can Prove Your Eligibility
Knowing that you qualify, won’t cut it though! You must also be able to prove it. To prove it, you will be required to provide copies of certain valid official documents that include all the vital information during the application process. To ensure the application process is smooth and fast, prepare those copies in advance.
You will be required to prove your income-based eligibility or your program participation-based eligibility, depending on how you qualify.
- To prove your low income, you must provide a copy of a valid official document that includes your full legal name and income, such as paycheck stubs, current income statement from your employer, prior year’s tax return, unemployment statement, etc.
- To prove your program participation, you must provide a copy of a valid official document that includes your full legal name, the name of the program, the name of the issuing establishment, and an issue data within the last 12 months, such as an approval letter, benefit award/verification letter, or statement of benefits.
You may also be required to verify your identity, age, emancipation status, address, SSN, etc.
- You can verify your identity or age with a copy of a valid official document, such as a valid ID, passport, or birth certificate.
- You can verify your address with a copy of your valid ID, passport, driver’s license, or utility bill.
- You can verify your emancipation status with a copy of a court document or an emancipation certificate.
Make sure that the document copies are clear and the copied documents are valid. Moreover, make sure to never submit original documents.
Step 3: Apply for the Program
First, you should apply through the National Verifier – the institution that reliably checks each applicant’s ACP eligibility. You can apply online or via mail.
To apply online, simply visit the website at https://nv.fcc.gov/lifeline/?id=nv_flow&ebbp=true, where you may need to log in or create a new account. Then, complete the ACP application form by providing all necessary information and documentation. Press ‘Next’ at the bottom of each page and ‘Submit’ at the end of the form.
If you prefer to apply via mail, print out an ACP application from https://www.affordableconnectivity.gov/wp-content/uploads/ACP-Application-Form-English.pdf and include a Household Worksheet, which is optional but recommended and available at https://www.affordableconnectivity.gov/wp-content/uploads/lifeline/images/ACP-Household-Worksheet-English.pdf. Complete both forms and include copies of the required documents. Finally, send the package to ACP Support Center, PO Box 9100, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18773. Instant approval is only possible when applying online.
If your application gets approved by the National Verifier, you can proceed to apply through your selected provider. To select a provider, use the instructions provided above. Then, visit the company’s website and online application. Fill it out by providing all the necessary information and proof documentation and make sure everything matches the data you have provided at your National Verifier application. If your application gets approved, the company will send you an X Mobile government tablet (or another tablet) via mail in a matter of days.
